The Final Dissemination event of the OPTIMATE project addressing all electricity stakeholders took place in Brussels (Belgium) on December 11th 2012 (afternoon).
The event was attended by several EC officers, TSOs, generators, regulators, wind and electricity industry associations, academic institutions as well as OPTIMATE project partners. After a key note introductory speech made by Mrs. Inge Bernaerts, European Commission-DG ENER, Head of Unit B2, Internal Market II, an on-line demonstration of the platform was carried-out by RTE showing the platform functionalities and capabilities. Validation study results were presented by the Technical University of Denmark/University Pontificia Comillas, TransnetBW and the European University Institute, illustrating the simulator robustness under perfect market conditions, and used by several types of experts. The OPTIMATE Strategic Agent-Based Modelling and results on selected case studies scenarios were finally presented by KU Leuven, together with a perspective of embedding this new facility into the prototype simulator.
A concluding roundtable, involving regulators, TSOs and academia experts, animated by Prof C. Weber, University Of Duisburg-Essen, shaped the routes for the exploitation of the OPTIMATE platform as a dialogue tool among electricity stakeholders in Europe.
